Quarry Bank Mill Trip

Year 8 and 9 students have spent the day learning about the cotton mill in Quarry Bank Mill.

Students experienced the Apprentice House where 90 children slept and ate after a 12 hour day in the mill. They saw the different stages of manual cotton production, and then how it changed with the Industrial Revolution and the invention of machines, with students experiencing the noisy conditions that these children worked in.

One National Trust volunteer remarked that the students were excellently behaved and a credit to the school and their families.
