Welcome to Ysgol Rhiwabon from our Headteacher, Mr.  Patrick Bingham

Headteacher Mr Patrick Bingham

It is my privilege and pleasure to introduce you to our school, a warm, vibrant and ambitious 11-16 year old  learning community where every young person is encouraged to thrive, achieve and fulfil their potential.

At Ysgol Rhiwabon, we are proud of our rich history and strong traditions, reflected in our school motto, “Nothing Without Labour.” This enduring principle continues to guide everything we do. Whilst we celebrate our heritage, we are also an innovative and forward-thinking school, committed to providing the highest standards of education and embracing the very best educational practice locally, nationally and internationally.

Situated at the heart of our community, we enjoy excellent relationships with our feeder primary schools and place great importance on ensuring a smooth and positive transition for our Year 7 students and their families. From their very first day, our young people become part of a caring and supportive environment where they feel safe, valued and encouraged to succeed.

We believe that every student has unique talents and abilities. Our role is to nurture those strengths, inspire a love of learning and provide the opportunities and support needed for every individual to flourish. Academic success is important and we are proud of the achievements of our learners. However, we also recognise that education is about much more than examination results. We are committed to developing well-rounded, confident and resilient young people who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and character needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Our dedicated and highly skilled staff work tirelessly to create engaging and challenging learning experiences that motivate students to aim high and achieve their best. As a long-standing member of the Professional Teaching Institute, we are committed and share their aims of developing knowledgeable, passionate and inspiring teachers. This reflects the vibrant culture of continually developing teaching and learning that can be seen in classrooms throughout the school every day.

Beyond the classroom, Ysgol Rhiwabon offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities, sporting activities, clubs, educational visits and leadership experiences. These opportunities help students develop confidence, build lasting friendships and discover new interests and talents. We want every learner to leave us at the end of Year 11 as a happy, confident and ambitious young adult, ready to take the next step in their education, training or career.

Our school is built upon strong relationships, mutual respect and high expectations. We celebrate diversity, encourage collaboration and create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued. We are proud to be a school where students enjoy learning, staff are passionate about their work, and families are active partners in their children’s education.

The views of our parents and carers speak volumes about life at Ysgol Rhiwabon. Families regularly tell us how much they value the care shown by our staff, the quality of our communication, the wide range of opportunities available to students and the positive way in which their children settle into school life and develop during their time with us.

While a website can provide an insight into what makes Ysgol Rhiwabon such a special place, nothing compares to experiencing the school in person. I warmly invite you to visit us, meet our students and staff, and see first-hand the ambition, enthusiasm and sense of community that define our school.

I am confident that you will discover a school where young people are inspired to learn, supported to succeed and encouraged to become the very best version of themselves.

I look forward to welcoming you to Ysgol Rhiwabon.
