During another successful open evening at Ysgol Rhiwabon, we ran a competition for the Year 5 & 6 students to use their knowledge of weight and units. Students had to analyse and estimate the weight of the chocolate bars in the jar.
Students (and parents!) were using all sorts of strategies to give them the best estimate for the weight.
There were lots of students who were extremely close but only one winner…. Tommy Killick from St Mary’s in Ruabon!
The exact weight was 2.451Kg. and Tommy estimated at 2.45Kg., so was extremely close. Tommy was presented his prizes by the Head of Maths, Mrs Beveridge. The prizes included the chocolate bars and a Maths instrument set.
Well done to all our entries, especially those in the highly commended category. We look forward to seeing all the bright Mathematicians when they join Year 7.
