Community Spirit Shines in Plas Madoc Litter Pick Led by We Are Plas Madoc and AVOW
Dozens of volunteers rolled up their sleeves today in a heartwarming show of community pride as We Are Plas Madoc/AVOW organised a highly successful community litter pick. The event saw energetic participation from young pupils of Ysgol Rhosymedre, who joined forces with local leaders and residents to help tidy and beautify their neighbourhood.
Among those in attendance were Community Councillor Paul Blackwell and Cefn Community Council’s Community Development Officer Andy Ruscoe, representing Cefn Community Council. The initiative marks yet another example of the strong partnerships being built across Cefn’s communities to improve shared spaces and promote local engagement.
The event was led and organised by Donna Jordan, Community Development Officer with We Are Plas Madoc, who is widely recognised for her dedicated efforts in spearheading meaningful projects through the organisation.
Councillor Paul Blackwell offered the following statement after the event:
“It was a real privilege to be invited to take part in today’s litter pick in Plas Madoc. I was incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm of the young people from Ysgol Rhosymedre and the care and effort everyone brought to the task. I would like to personally commend Donna Jordan, who continues to demonstrate outstanding commitment to this community. Through her work with We Are Plas Madoc, she’s helping to create not just a cleaner environment, but a stronger and more connected one too. Her passion and professionalism are making a real difference, and it’s a pleasure to support initiatives like this.”
Donna Jordan also shared a heartfelt reflection on the event and its timing during Volunteers’ Week:
“This litter pick was about more than just tidying up – it was about showing how much we all care for Plas Madoc. Seeing so many volunteers, especially the young ones, give their time and energy today was truly inspiring. During Volunteers’ Week, it’s humbling to witness the spirit of giving back in action. These moments remind us that real change happens when people come together – no matter how big or small the act. I’m so proud to be part of a community that steps up for one another, and I want to thank every single person who made today possible. You’re the heart of what we do at We Are Plas Madoc.”
The success of today’s event underlines the importance of grassroots action and youth involvement in community development. It also reinforces the positive collaboration between Cefn Community Council and local partners.
As Plas Madoc residents continue to take pride in their surroundings, today’s event serves as a shining example of how working together brings lasting benefits for all.
