Jacqueline Palmer, who spends an incredible 25-30 hours a week cleaning up Cefn, and Lucy Gregory, who devotes 6+ hours weekly to litter-picking in Acrefair, were recently recognized for their outstanding efforts.
At a recent meeting with Keep Wales Tidy’s Emma Watson, the duo received brand-new litter-picking equipment to support their ongoing work. Also in attendance was Community Development Officer Andrew Ruscoe, who praised their dedication and discussed ways to encourage more community involvement.
Speaking about the initiative, Andrew Ruscoe said:
“It’s inspiring to see local champions like Jacqueline and Lucy making such a difference. Their dedication to keeping our community clean is incredible, and with the support of Keep Wales Tidy, we hope to build on this momentum and encourage even more people to get involved. A litter-free Cefn benefits us all.”
With this new equipment and growing community support, there is hope that this could be the start of a new litter-picking team for Cefn.
