GCSE Results Success 2026

Following a successful academic year, August 20th, 2026, marks a very special day of celebration for Year 11 students, staff, and families in Ysgol Rhiwabon.
Not only have Ysgol Rhiwabon Year 11 achieved an excellent set of results, their success and celebrations coincide with the 450th anniversary of the founding of the school. At the start of their final year in secondary school they were present in the opening picture, contributing to its proud history and their own bright future, evidenced through today’s results.
Ysgol Rhiwabon Staff and Governors are very proud of the achievements of the year group. The Class of 2026 has displayed some outstanding individual achievements and a collective success which the school and local community can celebrate together.
Just a few of the highlights include:
  • A significant number of students securing A*/A grades across all or almost all their subjects. This supports future aspirations to follow further studies and career dreams at the highest level in the world of Arts, Science, Humanities, Technology and vocational opportunities.
  • The majority of students achieved an A* to C in both their English and Mathematics GCSEs.
  • There was a significant rise in the bilingual skills of our students in Welsh Second Language.
  • Impressive results in the Skills Challenge Certificate where over 80% of the Cohort achieved an A* to C, evidencing their cross curricular skills in the world of enterprise, as global citizens, and through independent research.
Mrs. Melanie Ferron-Evans, Headteacher, commented:
“Our students, supported by their families, have worked very hard to secure this success and we are delighted to see their results. Every year I am impressed with the way school staff support these outcomes and they deserve a special mention for working tirelessly to secure this success.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and parents for their contribution to the incredible amount of hard work and dedication evident across such a wide range of studies and skills.
The grades achieved provide certainty and opportunity for the future. Ysgol Rhiwabon students move forward with results which enable our young people to further their studies, or to enter the world of work, as confident and successful individuals. We wish them continued success and happiness in the future. What a wonderful way to conclude our anniversary year with the success of the students at the heart of our local community.’’
