Welcome from the Editors
Welcome to our new-look, “bumper” August issue! Inside we’re celebrating all things summery and bringing you all the latest news and events from our amazing city.
With the schools finally broken up and kids endlessly looking for new fun places to play and explore, we’ve made it a little easier for you to research and enjoy some of the best attractions around. This month brings our Love Your Summer supplement, packed with ideas, inspiration and maybe even a special offer or two.
Don’t panic – our much-loved outdoors walking feature is only having a little rest for a month, while Adam recovers from an illness (and it’s been a little too hot to send him out and about!). We’ll have him back up a mountain near you very soon.
🎸 Talk of the Town: WREXFEST Returns
Our Talk of the Town feature (Page 6) takes a closer look at WREXFEST, back in town on 14th and 15th August. We hear from organiser Brendan Griffiths on the festival’s journey from its 2013 beginnings to becoming a genuine celebration of Wrexham’s culture, with headliners including Holy Coves, Melys, Pictish Trail and dozens more across multiple city-centre venues.
🏘️ Community, Culture & City Centre
This issue is packed with local news, including:
- City of Culture: Wrecsam2029’s bid gathers momentum, with wood sculptor Simon O’Rourke joining as an official ambassador (Page 14).
- City Centre: New plans take shape for Henblas Street, the former Hippodrome site and Chester Street (Page 16).
- Rural Development: Rhosllannerchrugog draws up a community-led plan for its future (Page 12).
