15 students selected from years 7-9 took part in a World War One history workshop in school today, working with Llangollen Museum.
The students selected have been given the task of working with the museum to research the impact of the war on Llangollen and the surrounding area. They will eventually put together a display cabinet of their research and artefacts which will form part of the collection that the museum exhibits in November.
In today’s workshop students were able to handle replica children’s toys, food items and uniforms of the soldiers. Some of our students also brought in their own artefacts and shared stories from their own family history.
Mrs Gillian Smith from the museum, said that she thought the students were enthusiastic and keen to investigate and handle the artefacts . She said that the atmosphere in the school was really uplifting.
Some of the photographs from the workshop can be seen here.
