Sixth Form students from Ysgol Rhiwabon recently visited Ikea for a sustainability research field trip.
The students had a guided tour around the different areas of the store and Ikea executives explained the companies approach to sustainability.
The students were then able to share their ideas with some of the staff and receive pointers on how to improve their projects through understanding what Ikea look for in new ideas.
Ikea are keen to start working with the students in a mentoring approach to assisting the 6th Form projects and also support with resources to provide packaging for the products the students make.
Daniel Nuttall, Curriculum Leader of Technology said,
‘On the whole a really useful day and I’m very happy that they want to make it an annual visit. The 6th Form mentoring support was a fantastic offer by Ikea and one which will benefit our students enormously’.
