This autumn a peer selected group of year 8 pupils will be participating in the Just B programme run by Public Health Wales.
The programme aims to reduce, and prevent future, uptake in smoking through the influence of peer pressure and friendship ties.
Research has identified that young people are at most risk of experimenting with cigarettes in Year 8 and for this reason this year group has been targeted.
A group of our Year 8 pupils has been selected to receive training from a Just B ambassador. These particular pupils have been identified as influential to the year group, and thus make them perfect peer role models. The training they receive will increase their knowledge about smoking related issues, and will equip them with the relevant skills and confidence to pass on relevant, non-judgemental information on smoking to their existing friends in Year 8.
The group has just completed a two day training course with a Just B ambassador. See more photos of the course, here.
