On Friday 29th January, a small group of year 8 and 9 girls got to spend the day at Barclays Technology Centre in Radbroke, where they received a first-hand experience of what a career in IT could be like.
They were given a demonstration of how ICT is used in Astrophysics, to help decide what the telescope is going to monitor throughout each night. They had the opportunity to develop their cryptography skills and break some coded jokes; and to, individually, conceive of a technological innovation for the future.
Finally, they were able to show off their programming skills and program a robot to follow a track.
Hannah Watts, 8AJ, won second place for her idea of contact lenses, that allowed a user to download a movie onto them, and then would play the movie when they closed their eyes.
