Five year 12 students were shown around the plant that manufactures solar arrays for domestic and commercial use. The production line is highly automated and has quality control at every stage of the process. The students’ brief was to prepare a report on the applications of Physics in the factory. Many thanks to the staff at Sharp for a most interesting experience.
Two A level physics students attended the particle physics masterclass for A level students held at the University of Manchester. There were a series of stimulating lectures given by those working at the frontiers of science theory including Brian Cox who is often seen on TV science programmes. Some insight was given into the significance of experiments to be performed using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva. Students were given the opportunity to analyse data from actual experiments carried out using high energy particle accelerators. |
