Ysgol Rhiwabon's History Department is the only school department in Wales, in 2009, to have been awarded the prestigious Prince's Teaching Institute Schools Programme Mark.
The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) is an independent educational charity created by the Prince of Wales. It believes that all children, irrespective of background or ability, deserve a rich subject-based experience at school - both within and beyond the examination curriculum.
The Prince’s Teaching Institute believes that young people's opportunities in life are maximised by having inspiring teachers, who are knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects.
Ysgol Rhiwabon's History Department is a member of the PTI Schools Programme, and has recently been awarded the Prince's Teaching Institute Schools Programme Mark.
This was awarded for "extending the subject beyond the curriculum by running extra curricular activities."
