Mark was at his old school as the guest of honour to open facilities costing over £2 million. The lavish occasion was organised jointly by Wrexham County Borough Council and the school. Guests included His Worship The Mayor of Wrexham, The Director of Education and Leisure, other officials of the council and those involved in the building programme. The event drew great media interest with TV cameras from BBC, HTV and Sky Sports present along with radio journalists from Radio Wales and Radio Shropshire and representatives of the Wrexham Leader, Western Mail, Daily Post and Shropshire Star. The pupils of the school were not forgotten with everyone included in the opening ceremony in the new Sports Hall either in the audience or in the choir.
Following a tour of the school, Mark was inundated with interviews from the media but still found time to chat with some of his former teachers, several of whom are still on the staff there. Copies of a video showing the opening ceremony, performance of the school choir and the reception are available at the nominal price of £5. For each video sold £1 will be donated to the Noah’s Ark Appeal to raise funds for the first children’s hospital in Wales. If you would like to buy a copy of this video, please contact us via email or telephone: 01978 822 392. |
