Callum Edwards of the School Council explains the background to the new logo which will appear on new sweatshirts:- “As members of the Student Council we listen to the views of all pupils and many were expressing their feelings on the school logo on our sweatshirts. Many people in and out of school have questioned the current logo as not being a representative symbol of the school and its rich history. We at the Council set about the initial re-designing process by using new and old designs of the shield. Once we had put together our designs we took them to all forms in every year and asked for views and opinions. Teachers were involved in this decision too. We also explained the need to keep the costs down. The final badge was a design of the Feathers of Wales, a symbol from the original crest, along with the banners from the original shield with the Latin motto – “Absque Labore Nihil”; this means “Nothing without Work”. The design was shared and received positive feedback from every person in the school. I represented the Council at the Governors’ meeting and they also liked it. The new logo will be on our new sweatshirts in September and we are looking forward to wearing it with pride!” PLEASE NOTE Sweatshirts bearing the old logo will remain acceptable as school uniform. |
