learning resource centre
A tour by Daniel (Year 11)

The learning resource centre is used by everyone.
The new building is complete with computer suite,

A wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books,

Careers area,

Magazine and newspaper racks,

Sixth form area and state of the art technology.
It is the place to be to complete assignments, to relax with a book, to catch-up with the latest news or to just surf the net!

With the rebuilding and redesigning of the learning resource centre came a new face;

The fabulous Mrs Nia Richards!! Helping to create a good feeling about the centre, Mrs Richards is always on hand to help find a book or give any advice.

Also arriving with the new and improved learning resource centre was the most up-to-date technology:-
The identi-kit finger-print scanner – identifies the pupil by finding their finger pattern in the database, so there is no mix up of identities!

The barcode scanner – identifies the book from a catalogue by a barcode in the book that it scanned!

The computer system – keeps all of the info about books, pupil finger patterns and who’s borrowed what!

The Security barriers – stops books being taken without being checked-out!

It has to be said that the learning resource centre is one of the best places of Ysgol Rhiwabon. Its calm, refreshing and fun environment is what makes it extremely popular with pupils, sixth-formers and staff!
