Mrs. Elaine McCarvell is our School Counsellor.

Counselling is available at Ysgol Rhiwabon every TUESDAY 9.10a.m. - 2.55p.m.

About the counselling service
There is a 'drop in' service available which runs during lunch times where you can call in to see the counsellor about the service, to ask any questions, or to gather information.

How to see the counsellor
You can access the service by going to Elaine directly on Tuesday, via the 'drop in', or by asking a teacher, ESW, school nurse or youth worker. If you want you can txt Elaine with your name and form.

Who can see the counsellor
The Counselling Service is for any pupil in the school who has a worry or concern and needs support to deal with it.

Why see the counsellor?
Young people come to counselling for a variety of reasons. They may include issues to do with: Home and Family; School  Friendship/Relationships; Personal Matters; Emotional Health and Well being- e.g. anger, depression etc.

Where to see the counsellor?
The Counselling room is next to the careers room. Sessionslast for 50 minutes. There is a rota basis- this avoids you missing the same lesson each week. At times there maybe a waiting list. Counselling slips/appointments will be given out in time for registration

What Happens in Counselling?
You get the opportunity to:

Talk in private what is on your mind.
Be listened to without being judged.
Explore and consider the choices you have.
Be supported to make changes in your life.
Feel empowered.
Begin to address issues

Confidentiality!
What you say in counselling is not repeated to others, without your agreement, unless, there are serious concerns about your safety or another person's safety
