Accidents in a school workshop can very easily result from silly behaviour. Never suffer fools in a workshop. Somebody else's foolish behaviour could result in your injury. Follow the rules shown below and be Safe not sorry.

You
1. Wear an overall or apron to (1) your clothing.
2. Roll up long sleeves and tuck in loose clothing such as ties, they may get caught up in (2) .
3. Tie back long (3) .
4. Wear stout shoes in case you should drop something heavy on your foot.
5. Wear special safety clothing and equipment when necessary.

Your Actions
1. Never work alone or without (4) in the workshop.
2. Never (5) or act irresponsibly in the workshop.
3. Always keep you work area (6) and tidy.
4. Gangways are your (7) route in an emergency always keep them clear, place your coats and bags in the appropriate place.

Tools
1. Make sure that tools are in a good condition.
2. Make sure handles of all hand tools are secure; make especially sure that the heads of mallets and (9) are properly fixed to the shaft.
3. Never carry cutting tools in pockets or sticking out in (10) of you.
4. Always place tools so as not to damage their cutting (11) .
5. Tools and protective clothing should be put away when not in use.

Machines.
1. Machines should never be used without (12) .
2. Only one person should (13) a machine at anyone time.
3. Eye protection must be worn, and (14) lowered before a machine is turned on.

5. Do not adjust machines or change blades / bits without first switching off.
