ECO-SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2008

1.Welcome
Mr Phillips welcomed all present to the second Eco-School Committee meeting of this
school year.

2. Eco-code:
Memo sent by Mr Phillips on 17 October 2008 to all tutor groups and staff requesting
feedback on the draft Eco-code for the school. This is a mission statement which demonstrates
the school’s commitment to improving its environmental performance and sustainability. Detailed
discussion took place regarding the content of the Eco-code. It was agreed that the Eco-code
would be set out as an acrostic – using the name of the school.

Action:
1. Callum and Jordan to produce the final version of the Eco-code on A3 paper.
2. Mr Phillips to apply for the silver level award in December.

3. Design an energy saving notice
The Eco-Committee judged the entries for the “Design an Energy Saving Notice” competition
which was held on the Year 9 Eco-day on 16 July. After heated discussion it was decided to
combine the notices of two students – Andrew Butler and Nathan Williams.

Action:
1. The students to be issued with a £5 gift voucher in the celebration assembly on 19 December.
2. Mr Phillips to contact Mr Giles Evans regarding having the notice commercially produced, using monies generated from the recycling of paper. The notice will be displayed in each teaching room and office.

4. Bird tables/boxes
Arrangements discussed for delivering the bird tables/boxes made on the Year 9 Eco-day, it is
hoped to deliver the boxes to local junior schools during the last week of term.
