| Ysgol Rhiwabon charity work
Red Nose Day |
Along with the rest of the UK, Ysgol Rhiwabon undertook various charity fund-raising activities on Red Nose Day. . Members of the school staff provided lunchtime "entertainment" in the school hall (non-attendance punishable by after-school detention - many chose the latter). The bulk of the entertainment was provided by Mrs. Helen and Mrs. Hughes (seen right), performing the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. (Fortunately, the caretakers have managed to repair most of the damage done to the stage). The Rhiwabon Village People (courtesy the Science Dept., and sensibly wearing protective head gear) thrilled the audience with their energetic rendition of "YMCA". Those members of "Girls Aloud" who were not busy elewhere (climbing Mount Kilimanjaroo or marking English essays) provided an illustration of how early "Promise" is not always fulfilled (they've promised not to do it again). The show was compered by Mrs. Wilson (who, apparently, is recovering surprisingly well from the experience)
Elsewhere, during the day, members of the school sixth form modelled their own designs for the new Ysgol Rhiwabon school uniform A Gallery of photos taken on the day can be seen here. Over £700 was raised on the day. |
