Marie Curie Fund-Raising Day |
Every year the school organises an evening quiz with all of the proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care. This year the fund raising was further extended by the office staff organising a cake sale. The combined activities raised a record total of over £600 for the charity.
Guest of Honour Isobel Garner (Chief Executive of Wrexham CBC), who herself competed, presented the prizes to the two top teams and to the thirty raffle winners. Speaking after the event, Marie Curie Nurse, Fran Robinson said, "It's thanks to the generosity and goodwill from events like these that many more people in North Wales and Shropshire are able to spend their last weeks in the comfort of their own homes. Marie Curie Nurses and Carers provide valuable respite and support both for those who are so very poorly as well as their families. Thank you very much to everyone who supported the evening, both with donations and taking part, especially the staff and students at Ysgol Rhiwabon, who put in a huge amount of work. Without such help, we wouldn't be able to do the job that we do."You can see a gallery of photos taken on the day here. |
