Wow! Wire wool burns!
Pupils from Cefn Mawr primary school recently visited Ysgol Rhiwabon Science Department for a "Year 6 Transition" session.

The session involved an investigation into the suitability of different materials in the production of firemen's uniforms.

Pupils were given four different materials - aluminium foil, wire wool, cotton wool and stockinette- and were asked to decide which would be more suitable for the lining of a fireman's jacket.

The visit was one of many activities jointly organised by Ysgol Rhiwabon and our "feeder" Primary Schools. These activities take place every year, and are designed to help Year 6 pupils make the step up from primary to secondary education.

In the next few weeks, pupils from Acrefair, St. Mary's, Maes-y-Llan and Rhosymedre Primary Schools will attend similar sessions.

You can see some pictures of the visits, here.
